Open the information below in pdf format by clicking on the "7th Grade Info" link here: Ripon Elementary 7th Grade Information March 24, 2020 Dear Students and Families, We hope you are doing well. We are excited for the opportunity to resume communication and learning with you., and ask for your patience and understanding as we move forward and learn together. In the meantime, the 7th-grade team has come up with the following information and tentative schedule to help you navigate this new educational format. 7th Grade students will receive information and communication through the teacher Google Classroom sites. Most students are already enrolled in our “virtual” classrooms. For Mrs. Stevenson’s classes, we will be utilizing the Google “ELA”classroom that is already in place. For Mr. Thomas’s classes, we will be using the Google “Mr. Thomas” classroom that has been created. If you are not already a part of those classrooms, (most students are already enrolled) please use the codes below to join. If you are on a phone, it is a good idea to enable notifications for your school Gmail account. This will allow you to easily be notified when new information is posted in the Google classrooms. (If you need to add either classroom - Log into Google with your 628 number, search Google Classroom, click the + button in the top right hand corner and enter the class code.) Mrs. Stevenson’s ELA Classroom; uw6nsuz Mr. Thomas’s Classroom: azwfij3 In addition, if you have not already filled out the Informational Survey that Mrs. Stevenson sent out on 3/23/2020, please do so. This information will help us design our online learning to meet student needs. (It can be accessed here, through Google Classroom, through Weebly, and through the AERIES email Mrs. Stevenson sent out this morning. You will need to be logged in to your 628 account to respond.) Student Information Survey: Click here to access the survey We will also be instituting “Office Hours” twice a week for students who would like to communicate with us. While it might vary from week-to-week, we are currently planning to hold office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 am -12:00 pm. This would mean that teachers will be available during this time for emails and video conferencing if necessary. (We will be using the Zoom software platform to allow for virtual classrooms. You can find more information about Zoom here Check out Zoom!) If you are using a computer at home, you will just need to click on the zoom link that your teacher will post in their Google Classroom and follow the on-screen prompts. If you are using a tablet or phone, it might be easier to download the Zoom app and access the meeting using the link provided. Right now, we are planning to utilize the following Zoom classroom schedule in 7th Grade for classroom Zoom meetings: Mrs. Stevenson - Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 am - 11:30 pm. Mr. Thomas - Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 pm - 12:00 pm. We will host our first zoom meeting this Thursday 3/26/2020 at 11:00 am. While these meetings are optional, IF you would like to log-in and see your teachers and classmates, please plan to join us. (Be patient as the internet has been a little crazy the past few days!) Mrs. Stevenson will post a zoom meeting link in the her Google ELA classroom about 30 min before the meeting begins, All you need to do to join is log into the classroom and click on the link, following the on-screen prompts. Our tentative plan is to post assignments in Google Classroom, once-a-week on Thursdays. During our Thursday Zoom meetings, we will discuss the assignment and answer any questions students might have at that point. Students would then have a week to complete these activities. We would use our Tuesday Zoom meeting to “check-in” on students and answer any questions they might have. All work would be assigned/due through Google Classroom (or any other online platform your teacher is using) on Thursdays. While we have been instructed to keep track of all students' assignments and grades in AERIES, we are both in agreement that moving forward, most grades will be assigned on a credit/no-credit basis. If you are participating and attempting to complete assignments, you will be fine. We understand that this is a very stressful time for everyone, and we don’t want to add to your concerns. We also have our own families, so we completely understand the need NOT to make things more stressful than they already are! If you know of a student in 7th grade who has not been able to access the information sent out through Google Classroom, Weebly, AERIES, The Student Survey, or this document. PLEASE reach out to them (in a responsible, and socially- distancing manner, texts, phone calls, etc...) so that we can all work together. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Be Well ❤ Mrs. Stevenson Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well. I don't have much of an update---yet. (We will see if more info and guidance comes to us tomorrow from the Governor.) This morning teachers were asked to go into our classrooms and clean up and wipe things down. Deeper cleaning and sanitizing will be happening over the next few weeks, so after tomorrow, staff will no longer be allowed on campus. As of right now, I don't have any info about possible work or assignments - I will let you know as soon as I know. In the meantime, PLEASE practice social distancing...text, call, facetime, and skype, each other, but PLEASE don't meet-up in- person with each other!
